Griptide, 2025 Reefscape

About the game

The 2025 FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) game, titled “REEFSCAPE,” revolves around an underwater environmental theme of reef restoration and ocean health. Two alliances of three teams use their robots to manipulate two primary game pieces: Coral and Algae. The Coral are ring-like structures designed to be collected from human player stations and “seeded” onto a central, multi-level structure called the Reef, where higher placements yield greater point values. The Algae, which start the match attached to the Reef, must be removed by robots and either launched into a overhead Net or delivered to a Processor to weaken the opposing alliance’s scoring requirements. Throughout the match, teams strategize to efficiently climb and stack these elements under time pressure, ultimately racing to their Barge at the end of the match to “ascend” by hanging from Shallow or Deep Cages to reach the ocean’s surface.
